TAPA Engine Warranty
Every TAPA engine comes with a 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty, plus up to $2,500 toward qualifying labor on approved warranty repairs.
This is a strong, honest warranty that we are proud to stand behind. It is not a gimmick to close a sale. When we put our name on an engine, we back it.
Why 12 Months / 12,000 Miles
There is a very specific reason our warranty is 12 months or 12,000 miles:
- A properly built, top-quality engine, installed and used correctly, will show any real build or parts defect well within that window
- By 12,000 miles, the average person should be on their third oil change if they are maintaining the engine correctly
- In the real world, a lot of people do not do oil changes as directed
Because of that reality, 12,000 miles is our cutoff. It is a fair, realistic warranty that allows us to truly stand behind our work without pretending that engines can survive long-term abuse or neglected maintenance.
Some places will sell you a 2‑, 3‑, or 5‑year warranty knowing that many customers will not change their oil on time or follow the maintenance schedule. They know that, and they know it gives them plenty of ways to deny a claim later. Those warranties are often written mainly to get the sale.
I’m Keith, the owner of TAPA. I don’t like to play those games. I’m straight to the point. I’d rather give you a real warranty that works in the real world than a long one that’s designed to be denied.
What Our Warranty Covers
In plain language, our warranty is meant to cover our work and the parts we supply, when the engine is:
- Installed correctly
- Used as intended
- Maintained properly, including oil changes as recommended
In general, our warranty includes:
- Coverage for defects in the materials and workmanship of the internal engine build performed by TAPA
- Support in diagnosing genuine build-related issues
- Up to $2,500 toward labor costs on approved warranty repairs, paid at a reasonable, industry-standard labor rate and hours determined by TAPA
In some cases, when it is clear that there is a genuine warranty issue and repair is not the best solution, we may replace the engine itself. In those situations:
- We will supply a replacement TAPA engine at no charge
- We will cover the cost of shipping the replacement engine to the approved repair facility
- Labor support remains available up to $2,500 on that approved claim
Our goal is simple: if there is a real problem that is on us, we do what we reasonably can to help you get back on the road.
What Is Not Reasonable to Expect Any Warranty to Cover
We build engines and we stand behind our work, but no honest warranty can cover everything.
No responsible builder can warrant against:
- Abuse, racing, or deliberate over-revving
- Neglect, including failure to perform proper and timely oil changes
- Overheating, lubrication failures, or running low/no oil or coolant
- Incorrect installation, tuning mistakes, or modifications that fall outside our recommendations
- Pre-existing or unrelated problems in the vehicle (cooling system, fuel system, electronics, etc.) that damage the engine
These are not tricks or “escape clauses”; they are basic realities of how engines and vehicles work. Our job is to stand behind our build, not to insure every other part of the vehicle or the effects of bad maintenance.
How Our Warranty Is Different
Most people will never see this kind of honesty on a warranty page, but here is the truth:
- Every warranty ever written is written in the business owner’s favor
- Every warranty has terms, conditions, and exclusions—that includes ours
The difference with TAPA is how we use our warranty.
- We do not inflate the term just to make a sale and then hide behind fine print
- We do not go looking for reasons to automatically deny a real claim
- We look at the situation and ask, “Is this truly a build or part-related issue, and can we reasonably help?”
When you buy a TAPA engine, you are not just buying parts. You are buying the judgment and support of the same person and team who built your engine in-house.
How Labor and Replacement Support Works
When a genuine warranty issue is confirmed:
- We may contribute up to $2,500 toward qualifying labor to correct the problem, using reasonable, industry-standard labor rates and times
- If a replacement engine is the right and fair solution, we may:
- Supply a replacement TAPA engine at no charge
- Cover shipping of the replacement engine to the approved repair facility
This support is there to help get you back on the road when a true build-related issue appears—not to leave you carrying all the cost.
Your Warranty Is on Your Invoice
Your official TAPA warranty is printed on your invoice. The invoice is your warranty document. It shows:
- Your 12 month / 12,000 mile warranty
- Up to $2,500 in qualifying labor coverage on approved claims
- Our policy that, in some cases, we may replace the engine and cover the shipping on a confirmed warranty issue
Keep a copy of your invoice in a safe place. If you ever need to use your warranty, we will refer to the invoice number, vehicle information, and mileage recorded there as your proof of coverage.
